( BACK TO REASON WORKS HOME PAGE )

Here are some links to on-line audio and video programs I find interesting.

Sam Harris on TV.  Sam Harris on radio.  Sam is the author of the best-selling books, The End of Faith and Letter to a Christian Nation. I think Sam is brilliant, couragous, and one of the best communicators of  freethought ideas ever.

Richard Dawkins Website
.  I learned about evolution by reading Richard Dawkins' book The Blind Watchmaker. For that I will always be in his debt. Recently Richard Dawkins has been stirring things up with his best-selling book The God Delusion. Many atheists (not to mention theists) do not like Dawkins' direct polemical style. I am not one of those atheists. I think what Dawkins is doing is great. Btw, there are tons of A/V resources on his site. You must check it out.

Christopher Hitchens Website
. Christopher Hitchens has been all over the media ever since the publication of his book God is NOT Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. Like Dawkins and Sam Harris, Hitchens has taken a lot of heat (even from atheists) for his sharp polemical approach. To say he pulls no punches would be a huge understatement. I for one love his approach. It's exactly what this country needs.

Bloggingheads.tv. This site was created by Robert Wright, author of the book Nonzero. I love this site. I especially enjoy a series called Science Saturday. For a taste, check out this discussion on consciousness with John Horgan and David Chalmers. I love this stuff!

Philosophy Talk. Two Stanford philosophy professors (Ken Taylor and John Perry) discuss all sorts of philosophical issues. I really enjoy these weekly programs. You should definitely check this out. Dozens of shows on every conceivable (and inconceivable) subject.

Robert Wright interviews Edward O. Wilson   This is a great interview. Some people have told me they don't like Robert Wright's interview style, but I think he's great. Also, check out Robert Wright's Bloggingheads.tv

Robert Wright interviews Steven Pinker    Ditto (see above).

Robert Wright interviews Daniel Dennett    Ditto (see above).

The Science Network.  What a great site! Roger Bingham is co-founder and director of TSN. Scroll down on the home page and check out the interviews with V.S. Ramachandran and Paul and Patricia Churchland. Roger Bingham has organized a number of conferences featuring many of the leading figures of the day. I especially recommend the Beyond Belief conference held recently at the Salk Institute. All of the presentations are available (in video) on-line.

Andrew Bernardin at The Evolving Mind.  Andrew Bernardin is a personal friend. He's written a couple of books. Andrew is really smart and really thoughtful and just an all around good guy. I encourage you to check out his blog and other writings.

Princeton UniversityWeb Media.  Go to this site and check out all the recorded (video) presentations. It's just amazing. I love the internet!

Freethought Radio & Podcast.  This is a weekly podcast/radio show produced by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Hosted by Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor, the show features many interesting guests like Dan Dennett, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Janeane Garofalo,Julia Sweeney, and more. Check it out!

Skepticality
. The official podcast of Skeptic Magazine. Lots of interviews and interesting discussion.

Point of Inquiry.  This is the podcast/radio show of the Center for Inquiry. Past shows are archived. Here are some of my favorites.  Sam Harris (4/7/2006 and 4/14/2006), Richard Dawkins (2/10/2006), Ibn Warraq (1/6/2006), Tom Flynn (6/23/2006).

Julia Sweeney   Here is an excerpt from Julia's monologue "Letting Go of God" as heard on This American Life. Julia's website is here.

Ray Kurzweil.  Many people think Ray Kurzweil is nuts, but I really like this guy. Ray is a celebrated futurist, inventor, and author of The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology. He appears here on the radio show "On Point" with Tom Ashbrook.

The Infidel Guy.  This is the website of Reginald Finley, Sr.. Lots of great interviews, debates, and other audio/video presentations. Much of the site is free, although you can become a "gold" member and have access to literally hundreds of freethought audio and video resources. Reggie has interviewed Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Julia Sweeney, Michael Shermer, Asia Carrera, and many others. He even interviews me!

Freethought Radio.  Another freethought network. There are probably several things here you will like. I believe even my voice makes an occassional appearance. Check it out!
